Toronto, ON – Tiffany Ford, officially announces her candidacy to run for Toronto city councillor for Ward 7, today.

“I’m excited to officially announce my candidacy for Toronto city council, representing my home #Ward7.”

Tiffany will officially launch her campaign on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018 so that she can focus on ending the 2017-2018 school year with a continued dedication to her role as public school board trustee in Toronto District School Board Ward 4.

“This campaign is all about including the diverse voices of our community. Focusing on the issues that are important to us including, affordable housing and childcare, access to grocery stores and transportation, and the need for youth and senior programs. “

During her short tenure as a TDSB Trustee, Tiffany has introduced numerous motions including:

  • Recognizing Latin America History Month,
  • Recognizing Body Confidence Awareness Week
  • World Sickle Cell Day
  • Islamic Heritage Month
  • Somali Heritage Month
  • Creation of the Black Student Achievement Advisory Committee
  • Development of a Student Health Support Policy

Tiffany’s focus on improving school facility conditions resulted in a 186% increase in capital improvement investments from $14 Million during the years of 2010-2013, prior to when Tiffany was elected, to $40 Million between 2014-2017. Tiffany’s most important accomplishment was the creation of the first student advisory council in her ward, which focuses on student empowerment and student’s voice.
